Pure Offices BBQ goes down a storm
20/07/10
Barbecue season is upon us! Pure Offices Portishead hosted a very successful annual summer party last Friday.
The evening, which brings together tenants at Pure’s serviced offices, kicked off with an impressive barbecue provided by Fresh Today, one of the centre’s occupiers. The catering company doesn’t do barbecues by half measures, so naturally food and drink were unlimited for the duration.
Guests were entertained by a local band, who played covers from a whole host of artists, from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin to Black Sabbath. The band’s drummer is none other than Pure Portishead’s very own Centre Manager, Chris Giles. He’s put together a 5-piece comprising vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keys, and he’s currently auditioning for another guitarist.
Chris was relieved that the rain held off until after he’d played! As the heavens opened the charity auction got underway. Occupiers at the business centre had generously donated some fantastic prizes, among them a full-size table-football table, a company website, a hot air balloon ride for two with champagne, and from the event organiser, a personal chef package for six including waiters and wine. PDF Services even contributed a 3-day Eurostar return for a family of four, not to mention the band’s lorry-stage. Bristol breakfast show host Ian Downs, from Jack FM, was auctioneer for the night, and by the time he’d finished the businesses had pledged a cracking £1,655. Manager Chris said, ‘I don’t know if they took pity on Ian because he was out in the rain, or if they were just feeling generous, but they were bidding hard and fast!’
Local press will print an article offering the money raised to local charities, who will be able to apply for it. The event was a great combination of good food, networking, and fundraising. A good time had by all.
