Family business full of beans

Roy Ireland Espresso Services, one of Pure Offices Portishead’s tenants, is the definition of a family business. Established over ten years ago by experienced engineer Roy Ireland, the coffee company has remained in the family ever since. The board now comprises four Irelands - Roy, his sons Chris and Rory, and his daughter Kate.
With their combined expertise (Chris was previously a computer programmer and Rory a successful caterer) they’ve taken Roy Ireland Espresso from strength to strength. The business now operates primarily all over the South West, and its cover reaches nationally when necessary.
Roy Ireland’s team have spent years developing their industry knowledge, and now their services cover all aspects of the coffee (and tea!) industry. The business incorporates three primary areas - coffee machine sales and rental, coffee and tea sales, and coffee machine services and maintenance. Roy Ireland is also an agent for Rancilio, a market leader in espresso machines, and Drury Tea & Coffee, which won twenty-one stars in the most recent Michelin guide, three times as many as any other supplier of its kind.
Services include installation by an experienced espresso engineer (this includes training), same-day emergency repairs, thorough servicing on all machines, and barista training to ensure your coffee presentation meets customers’ expectations. Roy Ireland also provides barista equipment - latte jugs, chocolate shakers, thermometers and numerous other crucial products.
Roy Ireland moved into serviced offices at Pure Offices Kestrel Court in early 2009. The Portishead office space suited them just fine, but rapid growth meant the coffee specialists had to move into a larger unit in October the same year. Further expansion is looking likely - Director Rory explains, ‘We’ve decided to branch out into e-commerce, and we’re about to launch our own online shop. All our products will now be available online, from espresso machines to coffee-making equipment to cups and saucers. Our entire range of coffees beans and teas will be only a few clicks away.’
